(Waukegan, IL)  The Lake County Sheriff’s Office say they are going to look into alleged threats that shut down the upcoming Civil War Day’s event in Wauconda.

Lake County Forest Preserve President Angelo Kyle shut down the event Monday due to safety concerns, though several other commissioners didn’t agree with his assessment of those concerns. Commissioner Dick Barr says he made an official request to the Sheriff’s Office to investigate any and all threats tied to the event.

On his Facebook page, Barr said that he can’t confirm any actual threats, but can confirm that he didn’t see any. Kyle tried to shut down the event unilaterally earlier in the month, launching the ongoing controversy.
