KENOSHA, WI–The University of Wisconsin Parkside will receive more than 10 million dollars for upgrades in the latest version of the state budget proposal.

The upgrades would come in the form of two projects, one to improve fire alarm systems on campus buildings, adding better smoke and heat detection systems. The other project would complete waterproofing work in a utility tunnel under the main building on campus.

The fire system upgrade will cost 6-point-7 million dollars while the tunnel work costs 3-point-8 million dollars.

The budget proposal that passed the Republican controlled Joint Finance Committee allocates one billion dollars for UW System building projects.
